Abstract:
India being a developing country needs human resources equipped with remarkable set of 21st century skills, attitude to produce advanced technology using interdisciplinary thinking. For the growth and development of a nation and realizing the need to create scientific temperament among young minds and to cultivate the spirit of curiosity and innovation, focus is on STEM EDUCATION which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Education.
To create and promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the length and breadth of the country, Govt. of India initiated Atal Innovation Mission (AIM). AIM’s objective is to develop new programmes and policies for fostering innovation in different sectors of the economy, provide platforms and collaboration opportunities for different stakeholders, and create an umbrella structure to oversee the innovation & entrepreneurship ecosystem of the country. Hence, at school level Atal Tinkering Lab and for higher education Atal Incubation Centre has been started.
The Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) initiative, launched by the Government of India under the Atal Innovation Mission, represents a significant effort to promote scientific thinking, innovation, and problem-solving skills among school students. This paper analyzes how ATLs labs, through hands-on learning and practical applications of STEM concepts, influence students' approach to scientific inquiry and problem-solving. It investigates the role of ATLs in fostering curiosity, hands-on learning, problem-solving skills, interdisciplinary education, collaboration, resilience in the face of failure, and the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
