Abstract:
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to transform the Indian education system to be more inclusive, flexible, and globally competitive. A key reform introduced under NEP 2020 is the Multiple Entry and Exit System (MEES), which offers students the flexibility to exit and re-enter academic programs with appropriate certification, diplomas, or degrees at different stages. This paper discusses the implications of MEES, including the role of the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) that stores and manages students' academic credits, enabling seamless transfer and accumulation. The system seeks to enhance workforce readiness, reduce dropout rates, and increase access to education while promoting multidisciplinary learning. The implementation of MEES reflects NEP's broader goals of access, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability in education.
