Abstract:
Art Education is an essential component of education. The recent education policy NEP 2020 mentions the integration of art in teaching-learning of other subjects. This paper explores the place of art education in some schools in Delhi. It includes data collected from 22 children studying in upper primary and middle school living in the same neighbourhood. It details the conduct of art classrooms in schools, integration with other subjects and school activities. It found that art-related subjects are marginalised in the school curriculum and are guided by the outlook of schools towards them.
